EVENT DATE: Jun 02, 2013
Long-time Daufuskie Island resident Jamie Wilson recently experienced an intra-cerebral hemorrhage and is being treated at Savannah Memorial Hospital's Trauma Intensive Care Unit. He is currently battling Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) and is in a coma.
This fundraising effort has been launched to help Jamie's family during his hospitalization and subsequent recuperation.
Jamie and his wife, Jodi, are both self-employed. Jamie runs a golf cart repair shop, and Jodi cleans houses. Their family includes two young children, and to make their situation even more difficult, the house that they have been renting for three years is in foreclosure. Of course, Jamie is not currently able to generate any income, nor is Jodi who is spending night and day at the hospital where Jamie is fighting for his life.
Jamie's friends know him as an honest, hard-working, plain spoken, and compassionate man who would give anyone in need the shirt off of his back. Possibly the most indispensable man on the island, Jamie worked long hours to fix the golf carts of island residents, who depend on them for their daily transportation needs.
Now it's time for the Daufuskie community and others to pull together and to provide much-needed financial support to the Wilson family. The funds raised will be used to support their young children and meet basic family needs during Jamie's recuperation.
Daufuskie is known for people with huge hearts, and this is our chance to pull together and dig deep to help Jamie and his family!
