EVENT: UCR Dance Marathon 2016
EVENT DATE: Feb 20, 2016
The Guardian Scholars is an innovative program that supports emancipated foster youth during their college years at the University of California, Riverside. Each year, we have one major fundraiser through our Annual Dance Marathon. This year is our amazing 5th year of Dance Marathon.
This year, we were approached by a generous donor who has challenged us to raise $20,000 by the time the DM doors open on February 20. If we raise $20,000, they will donate $20,000. This is a HUGE opportunity for our program.
I hope you will help us MEET AND BEAT this challenge by giving to our Dance Marathon fundraiser. All donations are tax deductible and your gift goes to direct student support (no GS funds are used for infrastructure or staffing).
Please donate today.
The Guardian Scholars Program supports the 5-10% of foster youth who age out of the foster care system without ever being adopted or in a kinship placement to face the challenges of adulthood alone. We help these youth to rekindle and realize their dreams on our campus and in our community. From their very first days as applicants navigating the FAFSA and admissions processes, to their final push for graduation with the purchase of caps and gowns, we offer emotional and material support to these exceptional scholars. Your gifts provide year-round housing, food cards, book assistance, emergency funds, scholarships, monthly activities with family-style dinners, holiday celebrations, and a host of other services to these youth. Guardian Scholars is a family in every sense of the word and your support helps to keep us strong and successful. To learn more, please go to www.guardianscholars.ucr.edu.
Thank you for your donation--no matter how large or small, it makes a HUGE difference to these deserving young people.
