For the first time EVER, I am participating in the National Police Week 5K event. I am doing this in memory of a fallen colleague, Deputy U.S. Marshal Josie Wells, who was tragically killed in the line of duty on March 10, 2015. Josie was only 27 years old, with a wife he loved and a child on the way.
The Officer Down Memorial Page (www.odmp.org) is proud to host the National Police Week 5K in Washington D.C. on May 9, 2015. The largest law enforcement memorial in the United States, ODMP honors over 22,000 law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
This event raises money to support important ODMP programs, including Line of Duty Death Notifications, the No Parole program to keep cop killers behind bars, the ODMP K9 program honoring fallen K9 heroes, and a Survivor Benefits Database, as well as ongoing efforts to uncover the stories of forgotten heroes and pay them the tribute they deserve. A portion of the funds raised at this event will also be donated to Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS) to support their vital programs assisting fallen officers' survivors.
Thank you for your generous support! Together, we can pay fitting tribute to those law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
