My son Joshua died of suicide at age 27. He struggled with mental illness for many years, but never did I think it would result in him taking his life. This cause is very dear to my heart, it can raise awareness and help other individuals and family's to not have to endure the pain from losing their loved one to suicide.
Join hundreds for a 5K Walk/Run on the beautiful wooded campus of Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. All funds raised are used in the Great Lakes Bay Region to host special events, trainings, and provide education in an effort to build awareness of mental health and suicide prevention, intervention and aftercare.
Our Walk for Hope is an opportunity to come together with others who believe in this cause. It is our hope that this event will de-stigmatize suicide and encourage those who are struggling with mental health or other life challenges to seek out help from those who can support their needs.
Registration is free; however, for every $100 in donations you raise, your name will be entered in a drawing for major prizes if you choose to fundraise.
One of our major prizes is a 6 person, 8 hour salmon charter fishing trip!
This family friendly event will feature guest speakers, live music by Sonic Freeway, a DJ on the walk route, resource tables, activity tables, face painting, light food, and HOPE!
