Jaquan's Road to Success
Organized by: Mildred Lightfoot
Jaquan is a young man with high hopes of completing his education. In 2013, Jaquan moved from New Jersey with his grandmother to North Carolina with hopes of entering into his junior year and possibly attending college there. His hopes have always been to become a lawyer or go into medicine. Shortly after entering the high school in North Carolina, Jaquan was succumb to bullying. The bullying was devastating. The school, nor its board, offered any help in this situation, and Jaquan was too overcome to return. His grandmother refused to let his dreams die. She put together all she could and enrolled him in a high school program on line. It took everything they had, and at one point there was a lasp of three months due to them having no money for an extension. Jaquan is now back in New Jersey and attending a high school, while still is working vigoursly to complete two subjects in his online class. Jaquan must catch up in certain areas to graduate, i.e, PSAT and SAT, to complete and be able to move forward. Jaquan is a respectable young man with dreams. Due to the incident that happened to him in North Carolina, he has missed a year. But, he still has drive and determination. We want very much to help him succeed, but there is no money. The only help that he has had is from his grandmother, who is on disability; there has been no help from his parents. Jaquan needs help. We want him to graduate this year, to be able to take his examines, have clothes, be able to participate in sports, and like any other senior, to attend his prom, and to go on his class trip. Jaquan has the potential of someone great. Please help, it takes funds for these things to happen. Dreams can come true, and people do care.
