Jasmine's Liver Fund
Organized by: Friends of the de Andres Family
To know Jasmine de Andres is to love her. Effervescent, friend of all, lover of life and of the Lord. Jasmine is a contagious source of joy and encouragement to all her know her.
On December 8, 2015, Jasmine's body began to reject her 5-year transplanted liver. The first form of rejection Jasmine experienced was acute rejection, which is common in 1 of 3 transplant patients. However within a few weeks the doctors determined she was also experiencing chronic rejection, an irreversible and rarer form of liver rejection, especially in a patient five years out from their liver transplant.
On January 12, 2016, Jasmine was admitted to UCLA, the hospital where she received her first liver transplant. She has been re-listed on the transplant list, and doctors anticipate that she will eventually need another transplant, although they can't predict the timeline. We hope and pray that Jasmine will regain her health without a second transplant, but she is prepared to face another transplant if that is what the future holds.
Several friends have asked if there is a way they can support Jasmine and her family, particularly in regard to medical costs. The de Andreses can't begin to express how grateful they are for people's desire to support them, both in prayer and financially. Costs for Jasmine's recent hospital stays, testing, and numerous medicines are already high, and will reach the tens of thousands if Jasmine receives another transplant. Additionally, Jasmine's mom is on leave from her job in order to provide around-the-clock care for Jasmine. This page has been created to collect funds that will go directly toward costs associated with Jasmine's current and future medical care.
Thank you all for your constant support, love, and encouragement. It ministers to Jasmine and her family each and every day. Any amount you are able to donate gets Jasmine one step closer to being healthy again.
