Please support the efforts of Children's Tumor Foundation's efforts to end Neurofibromatosis (NF) by donating to my run in the 2016 New York City Marathon.
On November I will be running the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon.
I'll be running it with one of oldest and closest friends in support and in honor of his son Ari. We're running to raise money for the Children's Tumor Foundation in an effort to end Neurofibromatosis (NF). It is an organization and a cause personally important to me as Ari was diagnosed with NF as a newborn.
Neurofibromatosis encompasses a set of distinct genetic disorders that cause tumors to grow along various types of nerves anywhere on or in the body, causing in moderate to severe cases disfigurement; blindness; skeletal abnormalities; dermal, brain, and spinal tumors; loss of limbs; malignancies; and learning disabilities.
NF can appear in any family. NF occurs in 1 in 3,000 births making it more prevalent than cystic fibrosis, muscular distrophy, and Huntington's disease, combined; is worldwide in distribution; affects both sexes equally; and has no particular racial, geographic or ethnic distribution.
The Children's Tumor Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to Ending NF Through Research, and to improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by NF.
