Jason Treatment Update!
February 16, 2016

Hi everyone, thank you so much for all our kind words of encouragement, wishes and prayers during the challenging time. Once I beat this I plan See More

THE STORY:

Hey Guys, I have some pretty important news to share with our CrossFit Family. Our friend Jason Benade has been informed that he has Melanoma, a serious form of skin cancer. Jason, and his wife Malissa have been a tremendous blessing since we have met them. They have gone out of their way to help me with the gym and are always so giving of valuable time and information. I have learned so much since I have met him and I consider him an extremely good friend. Please help me to give back to him by donating anything that you can. Let's show him how awesome the CrossFit community really is. Jeff Below is a letter from Malissa, please give it a read. To all our family and friends~ Jason and I wanted to share an unforeseen situation that has recently occurred. Since coming back from a great trip in sunny and warm South Africa at the beginning of January, Jason made an appointment with his dermatologist to have a skin growth removed that he noticed started growing this past Summer. Results came back positive that it was the beginning of Stage 2 Melanoma. I am sure that you are all quite shocked to read this especially because as many of you are aware Jason is one of the most healthiest people we have ALL ever met. As you know, it’s our passion to help people with their health supporting the most natural way possible, therefore, Jason has seeked a more natural cancer clinic for treatment. It is sudden, but Jason will be leaving for Spain on Saturday for a two-week treatment course. We were referred to this amazing doctor there (who has clinics all over the world by the way) by a chiropractor friend of ours who is a Stage 4 Skin Cancer survivor. His reviews are amazing and has a very high success rating. These last two weeks have had it’s tears (sorry my 9:30 peeps for not working out with you so often lately), but they quickly go away when I see Jason so focused and determined. There just isn’t time to cry or be sad when the moment is the most important part to appreciate and live. And, when there are things to be done quite quickly. I want to mention a few thank you’s though while I can. A BIG BIG BIG special thanks to Randy (cancer survivor) for always replying so quickly to each phone call and text everyday! (Cause the waiting part of all of this is the ultimate worse part!) To Jason Bannister, for making more time in his busy day to research and speak to Jason making this his upmost priority…you are truly and angel and gosh you know so much! And finally to Seth and Lacey our Chiropractors/family friends…you are such awesome doctors to have. You always come to our aid even at those odd hours and have had the best shoulders to cry on. The shock is over and now it’s time keep moving forward! I’ll be covering Jason’s evening classes, which is always so nice to see the many faces I don’t get to see that often. If you have any questions about Jason, I would love to share. The entire process has truly been eye opening to witness. As to how Jason is feeling…he’s actually feeling incredible. His diet is so tight, his supplemental intake high and he has done so many detoxifying treatments these last 30 days that it really allows him to feel good. One last thing I want to share. Since moving to El Dorado Hills, Jason has found a nice box that he trains at in the mornings. Jeff, the owner, and him are quite buds and Jeff has been so kind as to start a fundraiser for Jason. Because this trip is so sudden it has gotten quite pricy not to mention the treatment is not covered at all by our medical.
