Jason's 275-mile Legal Path to U.S. Citizenship

After years of doing the American thing and paying for my own healthcare, it's time to make it official.

Yes, that's right - I'm becoming an AMERICAN citizen. But I AmeriCAN'T do it without you, America.

We all know that U.S. citizenship isn't made in China - therefore, it's not cheap, and it can't be bought at Walmart. I know because I checked every aisle and the closest I came was a dirty Bill Clinton birthday card. That's where you come in (ok, you don't come in dirty Bill Clinton Walmart birthday card, but you get the idea).

Here's how it will work - for every $3.60 you and your fellow patriots donate toward the cost of filing, biometrics, citizenship card, civics test, postage, gas money, etc - I'll run one mile toward Washington, DC. And since traffic in DC is horrible, I'll make the journey right here in the Tarheel State on the nearest road, track, treadmill, bike or elliptical and keep a running tally (see what I did there?) of every mile.

My goal of $1000USD will bring me 275 miles from Clayton, NC to the Capitol, and I swear I'll pass the citizenship test when the time comes. In English. Comprende?

Along the way, I'll keep you updated of how far I've made it in my journey, the things I've learned studying for the civics test and anything else I do that might make you feel good about helping one more permanent resident take the legal path to citizenship.
