Fragile X has touched my family's life in many ways. We have a 3 year old precious, funny little boy who shows us so much love everyday. He was diagnosed with Full Mutation Fragile X Syndrome at the age of 15 months. Since then he has taught us more about life than any book ever could! Fragile X Syndrome comes with many struggles, such as low muscle tone, poor motor coordination, delays in speech, development and cognitive learning. Fragile X is the leading known genetic cause of Autism. 1 in 2,000 boys are diagnosed with Fragile X Syndrome.
Research and funding for this genetic condition are so vital to the future of these baby's lives! The hope for a brighter future, one where they can function as independantly as they can, is the goal for all families affected by this condition.
There are many positives to Fragile X, and my favorite is Javen's innocent, FUNNY personality. His expressive language is something we can't teach. It is a charming, loving little trait that he was blessed with that makes pretty much anyone fall in love with him instantly.
I'm walking for Javen and all the other charming boys and girls affected by something that doesn't define them, but challenges them every day. <3
