How can a follicley-challenged, 40-something even think about being King of Anything? (apologies to Sara Bareilles' great song!) Well, a guy can dare to dream! After finishing 6th out of 5 for Homecoming King in 1987, I am back for a second chance.
I think that I have all royal attributes: I love to golf, run, EAT and party! I think I’d be great in the swimsuit portion of the competition too! ;)
After years of being a college basketball coach-which allows one to yell and scream at anybody at any time-I have transitioned into a different job. Now, I raise money for a living and that’s released my feel-good thoughts.
That being said, the Eastern Illinois Foodbank needs your help! There are over 76,000 people in Eastern Illinois that do not know where there next meal is coming from; sadly, almost 24,000 of those are children!!! It is a problem that is right here in our community and one that I am asking you to help solve. So open up that checkbook, dust off that credit card, skip that latte for the week, and help feed some families that need it. You will be helping your community. You will be helping yourself. And an added bonus? Maybe I will be King of Something!
Thank you in advance and please join us that night to celebrate my coronation and to have a great night with others in the community that care as much as you do! If you’re lucky, I will knight you!
