As some of you may or may not know, I am about to embark on one of the most challenging things I have ever tried to accomplish - to run the 2012 NYC Marathon. As I begin my training, I am reminded of how blessed I am to be able to work through such a challenge and reach my goal. I am also reminded of so many people in this world who are challenged everyday with many obstacles - financial challenges, physical challenges, mental illness, or addiction. Some of you reading this may know someone close to you who have been challenged by one of the items listed above. My family has been affected by the disease of alcoholism and mental illness. I have decided to try to make a small difference by raising money for Maryhaven www.maryhaven.com A facility that treats individuals who are affected by addiction and mental illness. Our family member has been treated at this facility and continues to be challenged everyday with this terrible disease. I am challenging my family member to get up and fight - make a change - we know you can do it!
As I begin my training and will run hundreds of miles over the next twenty five weeks - I would like to challenge you as well. Whether you smile at a stranger, hold the door for someone, help out a person in need, send a note to a family or friend, spend extra time with your children or a loved one, give someone you care about a hug or kiss, tell someone you love them - just because! Whatever it is - make a difference!
I am asking you to consider donating to my charity or even another that is close to your heart. Even if it's just a $1 a mile - it all helps and can make a difference! I am trying to raise at least $2,620 before I complete the 26.2 miles at the NYC Marathon on November 4th.
Thank you all in advance for your love and support and helping me make a difference.
