BENEFITING: Saha Global
EVENT DATE: Dec 10, 2013
I have recently been selected as a Community Water Solutions (CWS) Fellow for Winter 2013. CWS is a non-profit organization that partners with rural villages in Ghana to create sustainable clean water businesses. For my fellowship, I will travel to Ghana for 3 weeks and assist with the implementation of a CWS water business in a village. Once established, this business will be sustained by local women in the community and they will receive a profit for maintaining the water business.
Before I leave for Ghana, I must raise funds that will go directly to the project materials, water quality tests, and lab materials. Every little bit helps, and I truly appreciate your support in my endeavors to bring clean water to a Ghanian village. CWS has brought and sustained clean water to over 31,000 people, and I believe that their model is excellent in empowering women and the community . Even after we leave the village, clean water will still be available to the community and a business model will be establshed.
As a current public health student at The George Washington University, I have learned about the water crises currently affecting many countries across the world. Through CWS I will be able to assist in preventing future water-borne diseases, while getting hands on experience with clean water treatment systems. Thank you for taking the time to visit my page!
