BENEFITING: Yachad, Inc.
Mr. and Mrs. F purchased their home in 2007. Mr. F moved from Florida to DC where he met Mrs. F, who was born and raised in Washington, DC. Mr. F is a pharmacist who works part-time now that he is in his mid-60s. Mrs. F was never able to work due to her health issues, but she often volunteered. The couple lives with their four children, who they are very proud of. Three of their children are in school, studying biology, engineering, and nursing. Their youngest son is getting ready to join the marines later this year. Last year, a sewage backup damaged their basement, leaving one of their bathrooms unusable and the basement unlivable. Since then, Mr. F’s home has felt more crowded because the residents are confined to the first and second floors.
YACHAD will be working with the family, volunteers and trades people to address safety and health issues including:
- Refinishing the basement from an earlier flood by replacing stained carpeting and mold remediation
- Reparing security items such as door locks and broken windows
- Replacing old, non-working appliances
- Fixing damaged walls and ceilings, and then painting throughout the home
Funding is needed to cover supplies, materials and outside professional contractors.
