BENEFITING: JEWISH CHILD CARE ASSOCIATION OF NEW YORK
Internships Change Lives!
Jewish Child Care Association, a nonprofit, comprehensive, multicultural child and family services agency, offers 150 valuable work internships every year for vulnerable, at-risk youth. These internships in florist shops, law firms, retail stores and dental offices expand their skills, give them a salary and boost their self-confidence.
Troubled and traumatized after difficult experiences in five foster homes, eighteen-year-old Jennifer came to our residential treatment program in Westchester. At first she was resistant to treatment, but slowly began to respond to the help and advice of her social workers. We got her an internship as a clerk at Marshalls Department Store. She had a strong motivation to succeed and was liked by her peers. She did well. After the internship, her behavior improved so much that she was placed with a foster family in Brooklyn who has now adopted her. She says, “The internship gave me experience and more confidence in myself. Now I am happy.”
Your gift will help gift will help us pay these student interns and enable them to have a birghter, more productive future. THANK YOU!
