I have had the priviledge this winter & spring to help members of Team JDRF prepare for May 7th Pittsburgh Marathon & Half Marathon. Each has their own personal connection to Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) which has motivated them to take on the challenge to train and complete their race as well as raise funds for T1D research. Most, like me, have a family member with T1D and have a strong desire to do something to help "turn Type 1 to Type none." But I have been most impressed by the dedication and focus of the runners with T1D. Management of their training, hydration and nutrition is so much more complicated and important than it is for the average runner. It is in their honor that I ask you to join me in donating to Team JDRF and helping to Turn Type One into Type None.
JDRF's mission statement is accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications.
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease that affects both children and adults. Unrelated to lifestyle or diet, it requires never ending management, a lifelong dependence on injected insulin and creates a constant worry of life-threatening complications.
