THE STORY:
Hi!
My little sister, Addi, has type 1 diabetes and it makes me sad. So this year I am running the Pittsburgh Marathon's 5k so that I can raise money for JDRF. JDRF is going to fix it so that Addi, and other kids with type 1 diabetes won't have to get shots and can eat whatever they want to.
Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease that affects both children and adults. Unrelated to lifestyle or diet, it requires never ending management, a lifelong dependence on injected insulin and creates a constant worry of life-threatening complications.
JDRF's mission statement is accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications.
