I'm writing you for about nineteen reasons…no really just one reason Crim Festival of Races. I'm raising money for the most amazing causes and I really want you to Sponsor me. I am super excited I am now running the Crim Festival of Races in Michigan on August 25, 2012. I have decided to run the 10-mile course for a Cause Please help me to raise funds for Tessa’s Army - Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Simply click the link below. Tessa’s Army - JDRF My long time best friend Sarah's daughter Tessa is a type 1 diabetic. She was diagnosed at age 5 and is now 7 years old. She did not become diabetic from eating too much sugar or being overweight. Her pancreas simply shut down and no longer produces insulin causing us to manually give her 4 to 7 shots daily with the addition of pricking her fingers to check her blood sugar up to 12 times a day and this is just to keep her blood glucose within normal range. It is a daily struggle but they know that this is just our way of life and what they have to do this to keep her alive. She of course wants to be like any other child she knows that can eat whatever they want whenever they want, but is understanding that she needs insulin for the carbohydrates that she consumes otherwise her sugar be very high causing her to feel sick or could possibly put her into a coma state if the blood glucose runs too high for a long period of time. If her sugar is too low she feels "starving" or sweaty and could pass out...yes this is not fun, but it is now their life and they are doing the best they can to keep it in check and under control. My best friend and I have decided to do this 10 mile run on August 25th 2012 to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes and for her daughter Tessa. If you feel like helping us reach my fundraising goal of $600 it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!!
