BENEFITING: KYLE PEASE FOUNDATION INC

ORGANIZER: Tim

EVENT DATE: Nov 07, 2015

THE STORY:

Justin aka J-Dude was the winner of the 2015 Publix Marathon and the AJC Peachtree Road Race earlier this year, priming him for his toughest challenge yet: Ironman Florida.

Justin needs your help to get there.

Having already qualified, Justin needs your help to cover the costs of transportation, lodging and overall support to ensure that he performs at his best. In turn, Justin will be sharing the mission of the Kyle Pease Foundation in raising awareness to promote success for persons with disabilities.

Helping Justin cross the finish line are 3 world class athletes:

Tim Myers is an accomplished triathlete. He started running in his mid 30’s, completed is first Marathon in 2006 and after a handful of running events decided to tackle the triathlon world. He finished his first sprint triathlon in 2008 and hasn’t looked back. He’s completed a total of 38 triathlons including 3 Ironmans, Challenge Roth (140.4) in Germany in 2014, 9 races at the 70.3 distance and is a 3 time WC 70.3 qualifier. Tim is a proud member of the Atlanta Tri Club Race Team and has coached for the club for both running and biking. IMFL will be Tim’s first race as a relay participant (he will be completing the Run portion) and he is excited and proud to accomplish this milestone with Justin and his ATC teammates.

Paul Linck discovered running in 2000, since then, he has completed 147 races covering over 6,000 miles including running, cycling, duathlon and triathlon.

After qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon in 2008, Paul turned his focus to triathlon and has since completed 57 tris, mostly half and full iron distance races. In that time he has also achieved USAT All American since 2009 including a top ten ranking in 2012. He is also ranked first in Georgia and second in the Southeast two years running.

Other achievements including qualifying for the IRONMAN World Championship four times with a KONA PR of 9:58, netting him a 14th place AG placement. He has also raced the 70.3 World Champs twice and will race there again in 2014 with a goal to crack his 70.3 Worlds PR of 4:21. Paul is no stranger to the IRONMAN podium- he has an age group win and six podium finishes on the IRONMAN podium, including a PR of 9:23 for the IRONMAN distance,

Paul has had many things happen to him while racing IRONMAN. One such incident led to his only DNF- from a bike crash that shattered his collar bone at bike mile 63 - he managed to make it to mile 103 of the bike course when the EMTs hauled him away.

John Rutledge was first introduced to the sport of triathlon in 2009. He and his wife Bethany (the real athlete in the family!) jumped in with both feet and have not looked back since. He's completed 4 Ironman races, 8 Half IMs & multiple shorter races. They now help manage the Atlanta Triathlon Club and run an indoor cycling & coaching business, Energy Lab. He also is the managing partner of a property management company, Cobalt Property Services. John is thrilled to be able to share the joy he receives from competing in endurance sports with those who otherwise might not be able to, if not for the Kyle Pease Foundation.

Atlanta Triathlon Club was started in 2008 with the mission of promoting health and fitness in Atlanta through the sport of triathlon, providing service to the community through volunteer projects and increasing diversity in the sport. ATC is proud to have one of the only paratriathlon programs in the region and the only one that offers workouts side-by-side with able-bodied teammates. ATC also is excited to continue to grow their new kids program, ATC Tri Stars, as well as their corporate wellness program, which has helped hundreds of people complete their first triathlon as part of the Time Warner Fit Nation program.
