BRING IT ON CLIMB OUT OF THE DARKNESS - SEWARD AK YEAR #1!!
June 16, 2016
Please consider joining this fundraiser that I am hoping is the first of many annual hikes promoting awareness for all moms and families out there that may currently or have struggled with a perinatal mood disorder (PMD) including postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD and postpartum psychosis. This particular team is in honor of one of my best friends, Jen Knarr, her husband and their 6 month old son who tragically lost their lives much too soon to post-partum psychosis on March 11, 2016. Jen Knarr was a wonderful person, amazing mom, friend and Fish, Wildlife and Parks Game Warden in the Gallatin Valley of Bozeman, Montana for the past 8 years. Her active outdoor lifestyle, never-ending energy and love for the environment makes this climb a perfect way to honor her and her family's passing.
Please consider joining this team for a wonderful cause and to honor all of the moms out there that have struggled with any of the varying degrees of postpartum mental disease. You are not alone and you are understood and accepted in this group, whether you a survivor, a friend or family member whose been affected or just want to support other moms and families. Join the team, be an advocate, consider a financial donation and/or share your story with others. You may help save a mom, family or a friend. Thank you for consideration. We look forward to hearing from you. Please see postpartumprogress.com to learn more about where the money raised will be going.
My goal is to either hike the Tonsina Trail as it’s one of the more mellow hikes in the area for families as I sure do hope to see some kiddos on the trail other than mine! This is the same weekend as the Moose Pass Summer Solstice Festival, so I was thinking an earlier morning hike at 8:30 am which should ensure those to have plenty of time to partake in festival events. Please bring a flower that we can leave at the beach in memory of those that have suffered from PMD.
