BENEFITING: Alzheimer's Association
EVENT DATE: Oct 16, 2011
I am running the Columbus Marathon on October 16, 2011. This is my first marathon, and I've decided that all my hours of sweat and training should count for something more than just to drag myself across the finish line. I am raising funds for the Alzheimer's Association, "the leading, global voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care and support, and the largest private, nonprofit funder of Alzheimer research."
Alzheimer's is a horrible disease, and my family has witnessed its devastation in a very personal way. My mom Ruth was diagnosed with Alzheimer's five years ago. She was a vibrant, active woman who passionately cared for her family and faithfully served her church and community. We have watched helplessly as the disease robbed her of the ability to recognize family members, to communicate, and even to walk. My mom is one of 5.4 million people living with Alzheimer's in the United States.
There is no cure for Alzheimer's...yet. But there is hope. My goal is to raise $500.00 to fight this terrible disease. Will you join me in this fight? I greatly appreciate donations of any size. Thank you for your encouragement and support as I prepare for the race of a lifetime!
