BENEFITING: SWIM OCEAN CITY INC
EVENT DATE: Jul 15, 2017
I believe everthing happens for a reason. Last year I dropped out of the Ocean Games 9-mile swim with hypothermia. But it was a memorable experience in which I met and learned a great deal about the founder and race director, Corey Davis, who created the event to give back to the organization that transformed his life after he suffered a traumatic brain injury. Corey was never expected to walk again, but with help from the Johns Hopkins Brain and Stroke Rehabilitation Program, he can not only walk, but competes in running, swimming, and triathlon events (his story). I am fortunate to know Corey - he has been very generous with his time and advice, and he is an inspiration to many. I vowed to finish the race in 2017 and promised Corey I'd do it as a fundraiser.
