Hello, my name is Jeannine Zitney.I am 44 year old Mother and wife . I have been battling stage 3B breast cancer for two years. It is strange to be on the asking for donation side as I have always been the one giving and raising money for others. But there comes a point when your pride has to go and you need to ask. So I'm asking for help.
I had modified bilateral mastectomies , over 10 surgeries and non were reconstructive, chemo and radiation . I was near death many times, and still spend the better part of my time in bed staring at the ceiling for 2 years. My case is extreme.
My husband works tirelessly at a full time job , caring for our 9 and 15 year old daughters and physically caring for me as I spend nearly all of my time in bed. He has put a refrigerator and microwave in my room and this has become my little world.
Any donations I would get would go towards cleaning fees as I am no longer able to do so. And I need a clean home for my immunity.Copays, food, gas , parking and tollroad fees for drs appts. And Our 11 year old car is in the garage with rusted out gas and brake lines... And I would love to save for my girls educations, as I don't know if I will be here to see them graduate or to help them along in life.
I was an artist prior to my illness but haven't worked in 2 years . Knowing they will hAve a good education as they Are very bright would put my mind at ease.
The reason my story is differant is that when the surgeon took my breasts she found 3 types of breast cancer 8 tumors in breasts and five cancerous lymph nodes.
The primary type of cancer was lobular ,it is slow growing and the surgeon felt it had been growing for seven years!
I went for regular mammos . I have NO family history of breast cancer and was under 40. I was always told I had dense fibrous breasts but since I was under 40 with no family history , no ultrasound was performed. In many states it is now law that an ultrasound be performed along with a mammogram for women with dense fibrous breasts. In the state of PA that is NOT the case. Lobular cancer does not show on Mammograms it presents as dense fibrous breasts.
It's my heartfelt wish to spare even one woman having advanced stage breast cancer that could have been detected earlier through proper testing . And To spare even one child from the terror of being told "mommy has breast cancer" and save even one woman from having to answer the question I did " mommy are you gonna die?"
My story could very well save lives. If someone had shared the information that I have now ,I would have ran not walked to the doctor and insisted they do an ultrasound and fight the insurance company that my ultrasound be covered.
I would not likely now be a stage 3b cancer patient who's cancer had been missed for seven years!
It is my fondest wish that through my misery and my journey that even one woman may be saved it would give this whole mess purpose.
I appreciate you reading my story and anything you could donate no matter how big or small would be so aporeciated!
But please more than anything it would warm my heart if you would share my story it could save a life.thank you xo
