BENEFITING: Back on My Feet
EVENT DATE: Jul 20, 2015
I turn 26 on July 20. I want it to mean something. Something bigger than myself.
So, in lieu of birthday presents this year, I want to raise big money for a worthy cause. You probably don't know this about me, but I've experienced homelessness, financial hardship, and difficulty keeping employment. I joke that my entrepreneurial background makes me "genetically unemployable", but regardless, these challenges are no joke for those who experience them on a daily basis. I believe in giving as much help as possible to those who are committed to helping themselves.
I've decided to raise $2600 for my 26th birthday, and will donate to the Austin chapter of Back on My Feet. Back on My Feet is a national, for-purpose 501(c)3 organization that uses running to help those experiencing homelessness change the way they see themselves so they can make real change that results in employment and independent living.
If you want to learn more about this really cool organization, check out this link: http://austin.backonmyfeet.org
For the next month, I ask that you give whatever you are comfortable giving. $26 is a standard donation, although you can donate as little as $1, and there's obviously no upper limit to generosity.
Let's help make real change towards employment and independent living for the homeless in Austin, one step at a time.
Thanks for reading this, and thank you for your generosity.
