BENEFITING: The Pittsburgh Promise
Thanks for visiting my donation page. There are a couple of ways to justify your donation; first you could consider it as a great way to support The Pittsburgh Promise in their efforts to provide college funding for inner city school kids or you could look at it as a way of encouraging me to inflict great bodily pain upon myself. Whether you have a kind heart for these kids or you just like the sadistic nature of encouraging me in inflict pain upon myself doesn’t matter to me, your contribution is appreciated either way.
I would never ask for a donation without putting some effort into the task myself. As many of you know, I have run a lot of these crazy long races. I keep saying I am done but for some unknown reason I have again signed up to run the Badwater 135 (www.badwater.com). This event is a Death Valley crossing with a few mountain ranges thrown in for good measure. I have completed the race 4 times in the past but this one is going to be exceptionally challenging. In addition to the fact that I am getting too old to do this stuff, my knees are not in good shape and I have struggled with my training. Sore knees, lack of long runs and limited heat training all lead to potential disaster this time. It is a train wreck just waiting to happen.
The only good reason for me attempting the Badwater 135 is that it give me a good reason to raise money for a great charity. Thanks again for your support.
