Thanks to everyone for your pre-marathon support; it has truly been awesome. I am terrifically excited for Sunday.  See more

THE STORY:

Edward Norton. Oprah. P-Diddy. Alan Turing. Yves Duroseau. Joe Strummer. David Lee Roth. Meredith Baxter-Burney.

They've all run a marathon; and on November 7th, I'll be running the 2010 NYC Marathon in support of the Jack H. Marston II Melanoma Fund. My goals are to run 26.2 miles, and to raise $2500 in doing so.

I want to thank you for your awesomeness in considering supporting me and Jack's Fund. To recognize my sponsors, I've come up with a few thank you gifts: small tokens of my appreciation of your awesomeness.

Pledge $10 or more:
I will send you a handmade personalized postcard thanking you for your awesomeness. A delicious piece of snail mail.

Pledge $25 or more:
I will write a haiku extolling your awesomeness. I will then write this haiku on a second postcard, creating a diptych of postcards that I will mail to you.

Pledge $50 or more:
I will dedicate one mile of the marathon's first 25 miles to you. This includes me extolling your awesomeness to whomever is running around me when I complete the mile of the marathon that you are sponsoring. To insure I recall your name, I will have the names of mile sponsors written on my hands with a Sharpie. You will receive a photograph of yr name and mile number written on my hand.
Please note that at the $50 level you might need to share yr mile.
Plus you will also get the diptych postcard.

Pledge $75 or more:
Refuse to share, and claim a mile all for yourself.

Pledge $100 or more:
I will create a short, animated movie whose characters discuss your awesomeness. This movie can be sent to you privately, or posted on YouTube, where you can show it to your friends to demonstrate yr awesomeness.
Plus, you get to sponsor a mile.
Plus, you get the haiku diptych postcard.

Up for bid:
I will personally rename the marathon, so that when people ask me about the marathon, I will say I am running the NYC [your name here] Marathon. Then they will ask me why it is called that. Then i will explain how awesome you are.
Note: ING paid over $1.6 million to for marathon naming rights. This could be seen as the deal of a lifetime (sort of).
I will create some sort of memorabilia officially recognizing you and your name in the marathon.

The Jack H. Marston II Melanoma Fund reflects Jack’s values of determination, tenacity, compassion, and competitive spirit. The fund is committed to battling melanoma through: Awareness, Research, Healing, Remembering and Scholarship
