Jeff Schmahl Memorial Scholarship
Organized by: Zachary Schmahl
This page serves to raise funds for the Jeff Schmahl Memorial Scholarship, which will be awarded anually to a distinguished HuskerVision student in his memory.
Jeff led an incredible career in collegiate athletics, breaking boundaries and setting records everywhere he went. Huskervision was just one of these legacies he left behind, which paved the way as the first collegieate in-stadium game presentation broadcast production facilities in the world, setting a new standard for big-screen entertainment in stadiums across the country. While he had so many accomplishments in his 58 years of life, one of Jeff's biggest accomplishments was in the success of his students.
Jeff appreciated people who wanted to do things as well as they could and his enthusiasm was able to attract talented students that he would mentor in all facets of marketing, video production and broadcasting. Many of those same students have gone on to successful careers that would not have been open to them without the experience they gained with HuskerVision and Jeff Schmahl’s guidance.
After his passing last week, we have been flooded by all the letters and messages we have received from so many people who were inspired and impacted by him - in particular from his former students, sharing their stories about him and his importance in their development and the difference he made in their lives.
Because of this, we have decided that the best way to continue this impact was by instituting the Jeff Schmahl Memorial Scholarship to be awarded to a distinguished HuskerVision student each year in his memory. We are asking our friends, family and those impacted by Jeff's life to help us raise money to fund the endowed scholarship. We realize that our goal seems high, but an endownment scholarship requires you to raise 30x the yearly amount granted. In order to fund for years to come with the interest that it will earn, we are asking for $30,000 to create a yearly scholarship of $1,000. Any dollar raised over $30k will only add value and strength to the scholarship.
Thank you for all your love and support. My dad would be so humbled knowing how much of a difference he made in everyone's lives. It certainly has humbled us.
