THE STORY:

Welcome to our 2nd Annual Rise for a Cure: The Gary Schmidt Memorial Walk, Run, Ride to End Lung Cancer...

Walk. Run. Ride. Donate. Volunteer. We need YOU!

Our goal is to raise at least $50,000 for lung cancer research.

What: 5K Walk/Run or 25K Bike Ride

When: Sunday, October 26, 2014

10:00am: Check-in opens

10:45am: Announcements and pre-start warm-up

11:00am: 5K walk/run and 25K bike ride

Where: Yorba Regional Park 7600 E. La Palma, Anaheim, CA 92807

Form a Team: Please help us reach our goal by forming a team and gathering others to participate with you. Having many teams is the key for us to raise $75,000 or more. We ask that all teams raise at least $500. But don’t stop there...We hope some will raise $1,500, or perhaps even $5,000!

For businesses, there are also sponsorship opportunities. Donate $500+, and your logo will be featured on our Rise for a Cure event t-shirt. Please contact Dawn Schmidt Brookshire at db.creative@hotmail.com for more details.

About this Event: This event is in honor and memory of Gary Schmidt, who passed away of lung cancer November 9, 2012. Gary Schmidt was the best kind of man. He loved his family deeply. He lived his life passionately. He impacted his colleagues with his work ethic and integrity. He was devoted, courageous and full of a spirit that will never be replaced. We miss him, and we lost him too soon. This event is for him. It’s for anyone who’s had lung cancer, or has lung cancer. It’s for the family members who’ve lost someone, or are currently caring for someone who’s sick. It’s for hope. It’s for a future where lives are not lost because of lung cancer. Our Mission: To fund research that improves the quality and length of life for lung cancer patients; to raise hope and find a cure!
