Hello All! What a weekend!…
Hello All!

What a weekend! After 10 weeks of training, I officially completed the NYC Marathon. The day started at 5:30 am with a hearty breakfast of oats, banana, and coffee. From there our Mt. Sinai contingency took a subway to the southern tip of Manhattan, a ferry to Staten Island, and a bus to the starting line. We then funneled into the 60,000 person pop-up village of tents and hundreds of outhouses that smelled exactly as you imagine from that description. We ditched our layers in donation bins, entered the corrals, and awaited the start. As the helicopters flew overhead and as we crossed the starting line, it was anyone’s race. By mile one, however, the sinking feeling set in that we were not going to win. That took a lot of pressure off, so from there we could simply enjoy the bands, DJs and thousands of people that line the streets of 5 boroughs for 26.2 miles.

We had some amazing cheerers along the way and some great signs that lifted morale. I could lie and tell you that my feet were quick and my spirits high throughout the race, but that would neglect the grimace and cussing around mile 22 as my legs tried to quit on me. Fortunately, I was spurred along by all of your support, great friends at mile 20, and hugs from my Mom and sister (who came all the way to their least favorite city JUST to cheer!) at mile 23. With that last oomph, I entered the Central Park and finished the final few miles, sweat dripping, odor radiating, and smile widening.

With your help and support during the past few months, I was able to exceed my goal and raise $3,601 for the Mt. Sinai Adolescent Health Center; in total The Health Center Marathon Team raised $49,723! It has been such an incredible experience feeling the support from friends, roommates, college professors and deans, middle school teachers, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends’ parents, siblings, parents, in-laws, neighbors, and Guido the Pug all strewn across 5 continents, 6 countries, and 9 states. How amazing to have you all give to this cause.

I cannot thank you enough for putting up with my emails, phone-calls, Facebook messages, and text messages as I chugged along on the fundraising. Your patience and generosity are inspiring and your kindness has meant so much

Dear Jeff Schwartz, Thank y…
Dear Jeff Schwartz,

Thank you so much for supporting the Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center’s Run For Teens team in the 2015 TCS New York City Marathon! Here at the MSAHC, we believe that every teenager and young adult has the right to proactive, inclusive and compassionate health care that demonstrably improves their chances of preventing disease and dysfunction.

Providing these comprehensive services costs $1,000 per young person, per year. Reaching our team goal of $100,000 would allow us to serve 100 additional young people in 2016. With your help, we can make this a reality, and help our adolescents become active partners in their health care.

Your support means the world to us, as it truly makes a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Thank you, again, for your generosity.

All the best,
