On April 19, 1995 my father, OCPD MSgt (ret.) Larry Spruill and my step-father, OCFD Maj (ret.) Andy Munsey responded to an explosion in downtown. They both spent the next month digging through the man-made hell of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The event changed our family and our city forever. Now an Oklahoma City police officer myself, I run the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon to honor their service. The Memorial itself has been a symbol of serenity, peace, and healing--a place to reflect on loss and to consider the heroism of people like my two dads, who served the people of Oklahoma City at great personal cost. I fundraise for the Marathon to help keep this sacred space vibrant and beautiful.
