The girls of Women's Interlink in Kolkata are near and dear to me. I visited their drop in centers for the kids that live in the streets last year and the program stole my heart. It’s not uncommon for entire families to be under tarps in the median of the streets or under highways for their entire life. These centers give the kids help after school, keep tabs on them (with the police as partners) so that they can’t be sold into slavery, give mothers support of inviting them into the community and give the children the (sometimes) only meal of the day. The program is thorough, and well thought out. It gives children a fighting chance at turning their lives and the lives of future generations around. Every child that wants to go to university is granted their wish. Help me enable the women of Women's Interlink to continue to do the big hearted work that they do. $35,000 keeps 15 drop in centers open and serves over 300 children for the year. This includes: food, tutoring, medical check ups and higher education.
