THE STORY:

My heart belongs to our smallest clients.

~Sylvia Swilley, MD, pediatric cardiologist

JENESSE CENTER INC  -

I now have a bank account. You see that car  -  it is mine. I did not think I could ever get a car again because my husband destroyed my credit. This is possible because of Jenesse and the Allstate Financial Literacy and Empowerment program.” ~ Former Jenesse client

Economic abuse impacts the lives of most, if not all, survivors of domestic violence. Controlling or withholding access to economic resources, ruining credit, sabotaging a partner’s job, and depriving someone from meeting basic needs are tactics used by individuals who choose to be abusive towards their partners.  Jenesse Center knows first-hand the importance of financial literacy education and empowerment in ensuring the long-term stability and self-sufficiency of domestic violence survivors.

Since 1980, Jenesse Center has been helping families to escape and overcome the trauma of domestic violence.  Through our comprehensive, holistic service approach to domestic violence intervention, Jenesse seeks to remove every conceivable barrier, including financial obstacles, to overcoming the effects of domestic abuse and breaking the cycle of violence that ensnares so many families.

Through comprehensive programs, families can overcome the effects of domestic violence and lead the lives they envision for themselves and their children.  An example of this is Jenesse’s “Allstate Financial Literacy and Empowerment Program,” an on-site vocational assessment, job-readiness, and financial management program that provide survivors of domestic violence with all the tools they need to master their financial future and attain self-sufficiency.

We invite YOU to  “Imagine, how you can help” with donations, so that Jenesse can continue providing programs that economically empower women and children of domestic violence!    Also, you'd be helping Jenesse at a chance to win $100,000 by raising the largest amount in donations.

All donors will be entered into a drawing for the designer Purple Purse created by actress, Kerry Washington… The more times you donate, the more chances you have to win!

Everyone loves a FABULOUS purse!

DONATION: $30

I just had to donate $30.00 more to make a total amount for the purple purse charity. I finally hàve my own checking credit/debit account finally àfter all these years with a small amount that only I can access, even though I'm constantly told I MUST distinguish between Needs Vs. "Wants" and to not be selfish when my money I keep in there goes mostly toward a need of my son or daughter when "he" claims we are in dire straits. They must wait when they may need shows or cleats now because their feet are killing them (just one example)..….To me, that is abuse to make your child's feet suffer for 1 more moment over money! It sickens me as a mother. I put my children 1st and they are my whole world. Think about that next time you are afraid to keep a secret stash of cash or an account that "he" can't touch to keep the money safe guarded! This money is going to a great cause. I hope this little total of $50.00 helps because it is all I can personally afford due to my circumstances. I get a bit stronger each day and you I mean each one of you can take the initiative to get stronger too! I believe iin each one of you!! Take some of my strength if you need it! 2 years ago
