Every Kid in a Park - Akron seeks to bring 4th graders from Akron Public Schools (APS) to Cuyahoga Valley National Park—an estimated total of 630 students. There, they’ll experience a unique, place-based education program that complements traditional classroom learning with hands-on activities.
APS 4th graders will participate in the Rockin’ at the Run day program in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. They will hike trails in the park, learn about its geologic history, identify three basic rock types in CVNP, and discuss how humans have influenced the landscape. This program is a unique opportunity for lower-income Akron students to visit a national park and learn about its rich past.
