One of the major events of the NPS Centennial celebration in Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) will be a BioBlitz event on May 20-21, 2016. A BioBlitz is an organized event where scientists and volunteers of all ages and backgrounds work together to compile an all-species “snapshot” of an area’s biodiversity within a 24-hour time period.
This project will bring 150 fourth-graders from the Cleveland and Akron area to the national park to participate in the BioBlitz. There, they'll learn about Ohio's biodiversity and get a chance to explore the park with other citizen scientists and volunteers. The park's nonprofit partner, the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, is seeking funding for transportation to and from the park from the children's schools.
