BENEFITING: Sanctuary for Families
I am an interior design and artist based in New York City.
I support a number of causes with a focus on issues impacting women and children in our local community and the world.
My top priority is Sanctuary For Families (www.sanctuaryforfamilies.org).
I am a board member and on the steering committee of the Mother's Council.
SFF is the leading nonprofit agency in New York State dedicated exclusively to serving domestic violence victims, sex trafficking victims, and their children. Each year, SFF helps thousands of victims and their children build safe lives through a range of high quality services including clinical, legal, economic empowerment, advocacy, and shelter. Last year we served over 11,000 victims of domestic violence in our community.
Right now we need support for a special campaign to help refurbish Sarah Burke House -- the first and largest transitional domestic violence shelter in New York State, run by SFF, which provides safe, confidential and comfortable shelter to 140 women and children each night who are escaping domestic violence. Over the past 20 years, over 7,000 women and children have resided there on their paths from fear and abuse to independence, security, and freedom from violence.
Twenty years ago, Sanctuary for Families opened Sarah Burke House and, over the years, more than 7,000 women and children have resided there, on
Most of the furniture and appliances in the 43 apartments date back to its opening in 1992. Funding totaling $200,000 would enable us to replace all of the apartment furniture and appliances in the units, and give these families a fresh start to their newly-independent and violence-free lives.
I hope you will consider making a donation to help us meet our goal!
