I'm racing the Hamptons Half Marathon to help raise critical funds for iMentor. Founded in 1999, iMentor is a nonprofit that builds 1:1 mentoring relationships that empower students from low-income communities to graduate high school, complete college, and achieve their ambitions. This year, iMentor will serve over 5,000 students nationwide, our largest cohort of students to date. By 2018, iMentor will serve 20,000 students across the country each year, from New York City to New Mexico and many underserved communities in between.
This Fall, hundreds of iMentor students will arrive on college campuses across the country. Most of them are first-generation college students. Your donations ensure all students we serve receive personalized support to help them persist through college and earn those college degrees!
In the words of one iMentor student: "We can all be destined for greatness. Society does not define us; we define us. And if we accept change, take risks, and allow ourselves to open up to others, amazing things will happen." – Anthony Mendez, a first-generation college student from the Bronx. This fall, with the support of his mentor, Anthony will be a freshman at the University of Hartford.
