My daughter, Jennel had TMJ when she was young and had surgery to fix it. The surgery gave out several years ago. Her insurance (Medicaid) would not pay for the surgery. the TMJ kept getting worse. Her doctor tried working with her insurance and wrote letters to people and got no where. Her TMJ keeps getting worse and worse and Medicaid does not recognize the jaw as a joint, if it where a knew, or elbow she would be able to have the surgery! Now she is unable to open her mouth more then a very tiny bit, she can not brush her teeth and they are getting bad. She went to the dentist but no one will touch her until she gets her TMJ fixed because they are afraid of doing more damage to the joint. She can hardly eat and has to be on strong pain medicine everyday. She has three little kids she tries and hide her pain from. She has become very depressed because of the constant pain. Her jaw dislocates several times a day and she has to push it back in! If she talks it slides out even more. It sounds and looks awful painful! She doesn't want to go out and do anything because she is ashamed of her teeth and is in so much pain. I am worried about her getting an infection from her teeth and that she is getting more depressed. none of us have the money for this surgery so am reaching out for help. Jennel is 35 years old and very giving and kind and a good person. If you are able to help her be able to have her surgery we appreciate it and thank you.
