I'm an author, and a mom of three great kids. I also have a wonderful husband, who is very supportive of my various endeavors.
I have bio info on my author website, which might be interesting. But I'll say a couple of things here I haven't said anywhere else, and which relates a little to this challenge, and also to the completely silly accompanying video:
As a kid I was super uncoordinated (think a giraffe who grew too fast--7 inches in one year), and I was always picked last for teams. Physical activity was last on my list of preferred activities, although running was in my background (my grandfather won a silver medal in the 1936 Olympics--1600 meter relay). I didn't get into exercise until I saw Gilad (ESPN) on TV when I was 27, and realized it could be fun. Since then I've gotten into more exercise, and I particularly love running stairs. At first it was tough. I could only run 10 flights, but I've gradually increased the number over the years, until now I can do 40 easily. I've stayed at 40 for a few years now, because 40 seems to be the happy place for my knees. However, running 60+ now is not bothering them either, and I'm happy about that. I'd love to make my goal of running 100 flights of stairs. My husband (a Physical Therapist) says I have the foundation, and he believes I can do it, too. :)
One last note, if you're still reading, and find this info scintillating ☺:
(RE: the silly video) I was the jokester in my family, growing up. I still like to make people laugh. Mostly it is dry humor that catches people by surprise, and it is fun when people get my humor and sputter with surprised laughter. They're surprised because I'm very quiet, you see. On the outside. But inside my head it is very loud. I speak when I hope I might have something worthwhile to say, or if I might be able to make someone smile.
My motto is to be kind, which is why I love Random Acts, and their mission to #GetKind. We all need more kindness, encouragement and compassion in our lives. Let's give of ourselves to make life a little better for each person we meet. Start at home, and then reach the world.
