On Sunday, June 25, hundreds of teammates will join together to run the 2017 Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) 10K road race to support Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH).
I am running to support the Cancer Care fund in memory of my uncle, Gerard McParland. Gerard lost his second battle with cancer on April 7, 2015 at Brigham & Women's Hospital. With this run, I hope to honor the memory of my uncle Gerard, who held a very special role in my life as well as my family's. He was a beloved husband of 50 years to my aunt Linda, father to Kathleen and Colleen, brother to Stephen, Doris, and Charles, and grandfather to Griffin, Charles, Joshua and Sydney - and a true friend to countless others. He unselfishly served his community as a Natick Firefighter for thirty-two years. Please help support this amazing hospital that helped support him during his battle and, ultimately, his final days.
BWH cares for patients from New England, throughout the United States, and from 120 countries around the world. Every day, BWH clinicians, researchers, and caregivers work to find new ways to predict, prevent, and treat the most challenging diseases of our time while delivering world-class care with a profoundly human touch. Our team is proud to run in support of this world-class hospital that is fueling quality patient care, innovative training, and life-changing discoveries that will benefit patients here in Boston and around the world.
