EVENT DATE: Apr 28, 2013
Losing your mobility is a truly terrifying and often painful experience but I've been given the gift of it back through holistic medicine, acupuncture, Reiki and a lot of hard work.
As my mobility gets better, I'm increasingly thankful for the ability to simply walk. For the 2013 Ravenswood Run, I'm going to run, not walk. And as an even bigger motivator, I'm going to run in honor of the son of some friends of mine.
Calvin Lapidus is a fantastic, happy little boy with a smile almost constantly plastered on his face. Calvin, at two years old, faces a battle that is not only exceptionally rare but still filled with many unknowns. Calvin has Pitt-Hopkins Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects his development and nervous system and therefore, his mobility. Calvin is one of less than 200 children worldwide that has been diagnosed.
Help me celebrate my mobility by raising money for Pitt Hopkins Research. It's a wonderful cause that needs more attention, more funding and more research to help Calvin and kids like him.
