THE STORY:
As many of you know, I have been involved with Chill for over 5 years. It's an amazing program that has a profound impact on the lives of some of our city's most deserving youth.
Everyone asks, why board sports? why snowboarding?
I could list a million reasons, but my favorite is how it can be used to teach personal growth. You don't have to be worried about being picked last, letting the team down, or losing. It's only you v.s. the mountain.
It also allows for one-on-one mentorship when a youth is struggling, and still builds the comeraderie of a team sports.
There's nothing like 20 people on top of a mountain cheering for you when you link your first turn.
Our partners are constantly reporting back highter grades, improved self esteem and more positive outlook on life from the youth that participate in Chill. Often we hear, "I'm going to come back and be a volunteer mentor for Chill when I grow up"
Though Chill does an amazing job keeping operational costs low, there are still expenses that come with serving so many youth every year.
Please consider donating any amount to this amazing program.
