Jenny's Medical Mission Trip In Ghana
Organized by: Jenny Lam
Hi, my name is Jenny! As some of you may know, I will be traveling to Sekondi, Ghana in Africa this August where I will be performing medical care on citizens including: wound care, medical injections, and many other skills. I am currently attending nursing school at UNE (I can't seem to leave this school!) for my second bachelor's degree. Traveling to Ghana will aid in my education and allow me to follow my dreams and aspirations to care for others medically, physically, emotionally, and psychologically. I am a big believer in helping those who may not be able to receive the quality and kind of medical care we may receive here in the U.S. I believe that all humans deserve healthcare, and that it is not a privilege to be able to have it, but a right. Unfortunately, not all humans are able to have access to healthcare, so I am extremely excited to be able to join the group of medical professionals to help those in Ghana. I believe this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity will give me the skills to continue caring for others after nursing school. I will be leaving for Ghana on August 7th and will be returning to the U.S. on August 20th. The total cost of the trip is $3200 including room and board, 3 meals a day, and a round-trip flight. I will be traveling with other UNE students studying nursing, pharmacy, and physical therapy, and I will also be traveling with physicians, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, and an ophthalmologist. We will be providing vision care, physical therapy, nursing care, and administering medications to the citizens in Ghana. Today, I am asking for a donation of any size to help send me to Ghana where I can not only follow my dreams in helping people in all areas of the world, but so that I can actually do it.
