Dear Family and Friends,
On Sunday I will attempt the New York City Marathon, my first ever. In the past few days, I have developed increasingly mixed feelings about participating in this year's race in light of the devastation caused to NYC by Hurricane Sandy. In some ways, the events of this week bring even greater significance to Sunday's race. At the same time, I recognize that this is a challenging time for the city to host a race, which is taking away valuable resources from those who need them the most right now.
I have decided to run this year's marathon in support of Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. If you have yet to make a personal charitable contribution to the relief effort, please consider making a donation to support my run. All contributions will go to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief.
While this is a difficult year for the marathon, I am proud to be running this race for NYC.
Thank you for your support!
