My sisters and I (yes we are triplets!!) will be running the ING NYC marathon this fall to raise money for research to find a cure for diabetes. My 23-year-old daughter, Jen, was unexpectedly diagnosed at age 9 with juvenile diabetes. This auto-immune disease attacks your own body's insulin producing cells preventing you from making the insulin you need to survive. The daily struggle to check glucose levels, adjust insulin doses, the fear of deadly seizures, figuring out food intake, the desire these kids (and all diabetics) have to be "just like everyone else" - these are just some of the reasons we ask you to help us support research into finding a cure for diabetes.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation has led the way in groundbreaking research to find a cure and also to help improve the quality of life for those, like Jen, who already live with Type 1 (juvenile) diabetes. More detailed info can be found at their website, www.jdrf.org. Please consider making a donation of any size (no minimum) to help us find a cure. Checks should be made out to JDRF. Thanks and greetings from Jen's Team!
