The Problem: In Ghana half of the population does not have access to clean water. As a result 20% of children under five in northern Ghana are suffering from diarrheal disease. This problem is prevalent in Africa where approximately 700,000 people die each year from preventable waterborne diseases.
The Solution: Community Water Solutions, a non-profit, creates sustainable water treatment centers that are owned and maintained by village residents. CWS creates the centers and trains the residents who will run it. CWS has been recognized as one of New England’s outstanding non-profits because of its innovative strategies.
My Role: I recently accepted a fellowship with CWS. In May I will travel to Ghana where I will help develop a new water treatment center and train the residents who will run it. As a fellow I’m expected to help mobilize some of the capital needed to develop the new water treatment center.
How You Can Help: Your donation will bring clean water to many empovershed families, improving their health and well being. You can contribute by just clicking on the Donate button
