BENEFITING: WAVES FOR DEVELOPMENT
This November, I will be be heading down to Northern Peru to combine a few of my favorite things: travel, volunteering, and surfing. I will be volunteering with Waves for Development, a non-profit organization with a surf 'voluntourism' program in the coastal fishing town of Lobitos, Peru. While in Lobitos, I will have the opportunity to aid a number of ongoing community projects including offering English language classes for the locals, teaching kids to swim/surf, and helping with activities related to their community center.
I've been meaning to go on this trip since my last surf volunteer trip to Nicaragua in April of 2013, and needless to say I am very excited about this opportunity and seek your support.
The cost of the program will be $690-985 depending on the number of weeks I commit to volunteering and I've already made a $200 initial contribution. In addition, I will be covering my own travel expenses using a combination of frequent flier miles and my own funds.
Since we've already met my intial $1000 goal with 3 weeks to spare, I've created a stretch goal of raising $1500 for Waves for Development to allow them to expand their programs so they can touch more people. Thank you for reading this and for your contribution, whether that be monetary or simply spreading the word and awareness about the Waves for Development organization.
Your donation to Waves for Development (a US-Based 501(c)3 charitable organization) through CrowdRise is 100% tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You'll automatically receive an email receipt that meets the IRS requirements for a record of your donation.
* FEES - I hate fees and crowdrise charges them, so I've donated an additional $100 to cover the crowdrise service and credit card fees (~10%) to ensure that 100% of your donation made through crowdwise goes directly to Waves for Development. Upon checkout, under the "So 100% of your donation goes to the Charity" option click 'edit' and select "$0 I don't want to cover the charity's fees", as I have already paid for them.
Many thanks and much love,
