Earlier this year I was diagnosed with cancer on the base of my tongue. It was a whirlwind of appointments with a variety of doctors and I still had not fully absorbed the reality of what was happening. Next thing I know I have signed up for chemo and radiation treatment and started down the modern path of treatment. It was not until the second week of treatment that the reality of my situation truly sank in for me and I began thinking about natural remedies. Should I forgo the modern method of treatment and start down the natural path?
In week 3 of modern treatment I got my second dose of chemo. The effect it had on my body was so devastating that I made my decision without hesitation. The following week I informed my doctors that I would no longer do chemo or radiation. I am now following a natural healing path using enzymes to oxygenate the cells of my body, vitamins, minerals, and herbal teas to aid my body in fighting cancer.
The modern treatment has weakend my body so much that I cannot be active for more than a few hours at a time. I am improving as the chemo and resiual radiation leave my body but it is a very slow and frustrating process. I am keeping in touch with the chemo doctor because he is a very understanding man about my decision to take the natural path. He also wants to follow up and make sure that everything is going as it should. For that i am very grateful.
I am also grateful for the love and support that I have received from highschool classmates, friends, family and most important of all, the love of my life, Annette. Unfortunately, due to my current inability to be active for more than a few hours, she has been stuck with supporting me. She does not complain. But I know she worries where the rent money will come from each month. I love her so much. I greatly dislike being unable to pull my own weight.
I push myself as far as I can some days only to wind up stuck sitting at the house the next day. So now I just go until i feel tired and then rest. It is so frustrating to not be able to help with finances. But, I digress. My apologies for ranting.
A great deal of my frustration is because this happened at a time when Annette and I were working on creating our own business. We were in the planning stages for opening a comic book store and TCG & RPG hall. A place where the massive TCG gaming community in our town can gather for a good time and compete in tournaments. Where they can purchase new cards and supplies. Where comic book fans can keep up with their favorite story lines.
I have done my due diligence. I know the market demographics and median income. And, based on industry data, there is a sufficient customer base in this comminity to support this type of business. In addition, I want to work with local schools to encourage reading through comic books. This is something that has been very successful in New York. I want to do the same thing here. Why? Becasue all it took for me to get interested in reading was one story that drew me in. For me it was a book titled A Bridge to Tarrabithia. After reading that book I was hooked. I have read hundreds of books since. I have also read hundreds of comics. It is my hope that, through comics, I can help kids find a story that intrigues them enough to want to read more.
There are many other things that I could seek funding for on this site. I could ask you all to help me pay off my student loans which have been haunting me since 1992. I could even ask for help paying off other debts that are in arrears because of various circumstances in my life. BUT, I am not going to do that. Jesus once said, "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime." So, I am asking you all to help learn how to fish. To help me start the business that Annette and I have been working so hard to get going. Through this endeavor, learning how to fish, I will take care of my student loan debt. I will take of my debts that are in arrears. I will eat for the rest of my life. And I will help others to do the same.
Thank you all for time and consideration,
