In NJ we have enjoyed a long, remarkable, successful history of LGBTQ activism. Today, the progress we have fought for is being threatened. As advocates, activists and allies, we need to renew our efforts to safeguard our community, and society more broadly. United 2017 is a community activism conference that will provide training, tools and resources to enable all attendees to take their next activism steps, and allow networking and social-capital building between attendees. To register for the conference, go to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/united-2017-conference-tickets-32569921512. If you cannot attend, DONATE TODAY and sponsor an attendee who otherwise could not participate in United 2017. Your donations will help build and inform an army of LGBTQ activists.
This conference will showcase presenters who are making a difference in their communities. They will share their experiences and help attendees understand and imagine what is possible. Right now, hundreds of thousands of people watch the daily news and think to themselves, “No way. That cannot happen. I won’t let that happen.” Day after day we witness assaults on the environment, our education and health care systems, the arts, and women’s right to choose, attacks on transgendered people and people of color, vandalism of LGBTQ establishments, and violations of the civil rights of American citizens and immigrants. Concerned individuals are taking action, and many more would if they knew what actions to take. United 2017 is a much-needed resource for direction and solidarity.
