Stuff About Me:

Hi everyone! Welcome to our Crowdrise page!! Just to share a little bit about ourselves, we co-teach at Nueva Esperanza Charter Academy, a Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) middle school in San Fernando, CA. We have been working together for 3 years, and have worked tirelessly to empower our students, parents and our community. As we were working on building our teacher voice, we were drawn to Educators 4 Excellence (E4E) and their teacher policy team. Common Core is here to stay, and this policy team honed in on how to best help our students and schools by creating recommendations to effectively support Common Core Implementation. Through this policy team, we were able to work along alongside 16 brilliant teachers across the Los Angeles area to brainstorm effective ways to implement Common Core at four levers: state, union, district, and school. Our recommendations both focused on the school level, in that Jessica’s team addressed the importance of parent involvement with CCSS, while Jennifer’s team advocated for the need of teacher leadership with CCSS curriculum, PD, and data use.

On May 28th, we both will be speaking at the launch event of our policy paper so we can not only introduce our recommendations, but also advocate how YOU all can get involved with them and help us make them a reality.

Being a part of E4E has been a great experience for us, and we look forward to advocating for our students alongside other E4E members and staff. Thank you so much for your support!

Over the past 4 months we have been involved with Educators 4 Excellence (E4E) a non-profit that works to ensure the voices of classroom teachers are included in policy discussions that affect our students and our classrooms.

E4E has already had an enormous impact on our students, our school, and us. With the help of E4E, we have been able to hone in on our leadership skills to begin making the changes that will continue to drive student achievement.

Our goal is to raise $500.00. Every contribution will help support more teachers like us.

  • $25 helps E4E recruit, engage, and connect a new teacher member with policy and leadership opportunities
  • $50 helps E4E host school-based community events for teachers such as focus groups and listening sessions
  • $100 helps E4E organize large panel discussion events for teachers to meet with experts and policy makers through the E4E Networking and Event Series
  • $250 helps E4E members share their policy recommendations with key education decision-makers through the E4E Teacher Policy Team Program
  • $500 helps E4E provide teacher leadership training through the E4E Teacher Leadership Program

Thank you so much for your support!
