As I try to put into words of what I am feeling and why I am supporting Team Abolition, the only thing that rings so loud and clear are the words in Hillsong's "Hosanna"...
"Break my heart for what breaks yours
Everything I am for Your kingdom's cause
As I walk from earth into eternity"
A few years ago as I sat in church one morning, I asked God to show me something that would literally break my heart. I wanted to be a passionate servant for His kingdom and I longed to be stirred in a way that would not allow me to walk away without prayerfully considering my part in it. Little did I know that we would be watching a film on human trafficking. My heart broke in such a way that I cried every time I recalled the images. Months went by and I could not escape the feeling that I would somehow play a part in this enormous cause.
Not only did God break my heart that morning, but He also began a great healing in my body as well. A little more than ten years ago I was involved in a terrible car accident that resulted in multiple fractures and injuries. I was told I would never run again and my life would be filled with physical obstacles and surgeries. I gave up on the idea that I could ever hit the pavement running. Little did I know that God could simultaneously inspire me, encourage me, heal me, and give me a clear vision for something. Not long after that morning in church, I began a long road towards physical strengthening and conditioning.
In 2013 I ran my first race, the Kirby Derby 10K, followed by 3 more 5K races. I use the passion that God placed in my heart that fateful morning to minister to the souls of young women...whether it's in church, my community, or serving as a high school cheer coach. I believe that human trafficking is tragically overlooked and not enough attention is paid to it in our culture. I also believe that women of all ages need to know they're deeply valued and their worth is found in the gospel of Jesus.
I pray that as I count down the days to my first race in 2014, God will be actively calling other people to rise up and take action towards this great cause to put an end to human trafficking. "Open our eyes oh God...break us...use us...You alone are worthy! Your entire creation is worthy to be praised! Inspire us all to share the redeeming love and grace found in the blood of Jesus! Help us all see Your creation in that light! In Jesus' mighty name...Amen!"
Help bring attention to human trafficking and be a part of a team that is walking and running their way towards hope for a better future for all people. You can give your contribution on my page or any other team member on WBGL's Team Abolition Intl. I'll see you at the finish line! God Bless!! - Jessica Kreeb, Fisher, IL
